Some attributed the delay to his thorough selection process, while others suggested that he aimed to assert his independence outside of Akume’s influence.

However, an anonymous APC insider revealed that the governor sought input from stakeholders in each local government area to nominate three candidates, from which he would select one for each cabinet position.

While some party stalwarts believe Akume should have significant input in the nomination process, Alia’s insistence on his preferred candidate for Speaker of the House of Assembly raised suspicions of a rift.

Alia’s spokesman, Tersoo Kula, clarified that the governor plans to consult with all state APC stakeholders, including Akume, regarding the commissioner nominees.
