The police source revealed the names of the deceased officers, and suspicions arose that the bandits had links to the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP). The attack took place on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, in the early hours.

Zamfara State police spokesperson, Yazid Abubakar, refrained from confirming or denying the report, stating that the incident was a joint operation from the Defence Headquarters (DHQ).

This incident comes shortly after seven soldiers were reportedly killed in a confrontation with bandits in Kangon Garacce, another community in Zamfara. The bandits had invaded the Dangulbi district, resulting in the death of both soldiers and residents.

The attacks highlight the ongoing security challenges faced in the region, with bandits utilizing border areas for easy escape during confrontations with security forces.
