Speaking after a meeting with the National Labour Congress (NLC) leadership, led by Joe Ajaero, on discussions aimed at averting an impending labor strike, Ribadu appealed for understanding and support from Nigerians, citing the inherited difficulties that the current government has had to grapple with since its inception barely two months ago.
“The meeting was an opportunity for us to appeal to the labor unions, and by extension, to Nigerians. We are facing difficulties and challenges not of our making, we inherited everything,” Ribadu said.
In reference to the various economic issues causing concern amongst Nigerians, Ribadu pointed out that these were not instigated by the current administration. He said, “Most of the problems people are talking about, it is not the creation of this government. This government is barely two months old, sixty days, and since we came in, we have been facing these difficulties and challenges.” CONTINUE READING
Highlighting President Tinubu’s engagement and dedication to resolving these issues, Ribadu said, “We have an engaging president, a serious president, a president who wants to have a conversation and he is doing that genuinely.”
In conclusion, Ribadu made an earnest plea to the public, seeking their support and understanding as the administration works to turn things around. He stated, “So, the appeal we are making is not just to the leaders or Nigerians, please give us the support that is needed and required. We are working, we are trying to change things, we inherited a very bad situation.”
