Commissioners accused Dankaka of being deeply involved in job racketeering, claiming that job seekers pay significant amounts ranging from N750,000 to N7 million for job slots in various MDAs. Moreover, some commissioners asserted that the FCC operates dysfunctionally, with Dankaka making unilateral decisions without involving all the commissioners, as required by the FCC act.

Nwokocha Onyekachi, the commissioner representing Rivers State, stated that the majority of commissioners are excluded from the commission’s daily activities, and Dankaka runs it like a “sole administrator.” Adeoye Abdulrazak, the representative for Osun State, accused Dankaka of surreptitiously altering the FCC payroll and engaging in the sale of job opportunities to individuals.

The revelations have sparked calls for a radical overhaul of the Federal Character Commission. The committee’s proceedings have raised serious concerns about transparency and integrity within the commission, fueling the need for comprehensive reforms to ensure fairness and equitable representation for all states in the federation.
