In response to a peaceful protest by organized labor against the effects of subsidy removal, the governor expressed empathy for the difficulties faced by workers and the general public due to the subsidy removal.
While addressing the organized labor at Government House, Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara, represented by the Chief of Staff, Hon Chidi Amadi, lauded the peaceful disposition of the protesters and promised to present their demands to the appropriate authorities….CONTINUE READING
He emphasized that his administration is committed to implementing policies that will improve the well-being of the people.
The governor highlighted that he was the first in the country to release free buses as a subsidy intervention to alleviate the effects of the removal. He urged the workers to be patient and supportive as they collectively address the challenges faced by the state.
The Chairman of the Rivers State Chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Alex Agwanwor, praised the governor for providing the free subsidy intervention buses.
However, he presented a six-point demand, including the immediate implementation of resolutions signed jointly with the government and Trade Union Congress (TUC) to address the issues, and a reversal of all anti-poor policies, particularly the hike in the price of PMS.
Governor Fubara is actively engaging with the organized labor and other segments of society to formulate policies that will alleviate the challenges faced by the people during these difficult times.
