The Thematic Working Group meetings serve as platforms for discussing and strategizing various aspects of the NAP, addressing challenges, and seeking innovative solutions to advance open government goals.
Dr. Ahmed stressed the need for collaboration between state and non-state actors, along with the OGP Secretariat, to ensure the successful realization of objectives.
Consistent collation of accurate and relevant data was also underscored as vital for tracking progress and making informed decisions to enhance transparency and accountability.
This is crucial as Nigeria aims for a higher score in the country’s Independent Reporting Mechanism (IRM), reflecting the country’s commitment to openness and accountability.
In support of the initiative, the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, represented by Dr. Ngozi Onwudiwe, the permanent secretary, pledged to provide adequate publicity and secure the buy-in of relevant stakeholders while engaging citizens in the implementation of open governance for enhanced transparency and accountability.
