The move to realign the management of the party to meet current political realities was witnessed by the chief political adviser to the governor, Alhaji Mohammed Nma Kolo.
Jikantoro’s resignation was described as a step to contribute to the betterment of the APC in the state, and he expressed his willingness to offer his service in other positions in the future.
Following Jikantoro’s resignation, Alhaji Aminu Bobi, the Niger North zonal chairman, was promptly nominated to assume the role of acting chairman.
Bobi expressed his commitment to repositioning the party for improved performance until a special congress is held to elect a substantive chairman.
Nma Kolo confirmed that there was no friction within the party, and Governor Mohammed Umar Bago, as the party leader, had accepted Jikantoro’s resignation.
The APC in Niger State looks forward to strengthening its leadership under the interim chairmanship of Aminu Bobi and planning for the upcoming special congress.
