Maryam Abacha’s advocacy led to the establishment of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, with women appointed as cabinet ministers, an achievement replicated in various states, thereby increasing the visibility of Nigerian women.
The renaming of the center represents a significant milestone in strengthening connections and solidifying progress towards unity and peace in the nation.
Speakers at the event, including the Director General of the center, Mrs. Asabe Bashire, and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Women Affairs, Mrs. Monilola Udoh, also celebrated the increasing power of women in the cause of national reconstruction.
In response, Dr. Maryam Abacha prayed for the country and the success of the present administration led by President Bola Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima.
She acknowledged that women in positions of power are well-educated and advised them to seize the opportunity to impact the nation positively.
