A heartbreaking incident occurred in Garin Unguwar Kurya area of Kokani ward in Jega town, Jega local government area of Kebbi State over the weekend, where eight young girls reportedly drowned in a river.

As the search for the remaining six girls continues, Governor Nasir Idris has sent a delegation led by Kabiru Sani Giant, his special adviser on politics and power, to console the parents on behalf of the people and government of Kebbi State. Kabir Giant offered prayers for the deceased and urged the parents to find strength in this difficult time.
The Kebbi State Emergency Relief Management Agency (KSEMA) has dispatched a rescue team to search for the missing victims in the river. Executive Director Abbas Rabiu Kamba advised canoe owners to always seek permission from KSEMA or NEMA officials before embarking on any journey on the river to prevent such tragedies in the future.
