The governor underscored that the ban is scheduled to take effect after a four-week grace period from the date of this announcement, starting on Monday, September 4, 2023.
Governor Mbah further clarified that vehicles found in violation of this directive will be confiscated, and their owners will not regain possession until the tinted glass is either removed or fines are paid in accordance with the stipulated provisions.
The official statement elucidates, “The ban will be enforced commencing on Monday, September 4, 2023, after a four-week adjustment period from the issuance of this notice.
This timeline aims to grant individuals who possess vehicles with tinted glass, yet did not acquire Police Tinted Permits prior to the suspension of its issuance by the Nigeria Police Force on June 7, 2021, adequate opportunity to have the tinted glasses removed or replaced, especially if they are factory-installed, in accordance with statutory regulations.”
Governor Mbah highlighted the primary intent behind this measure, emphasizing its role in curbing criminal endeavors and bolstering the security and well-being of the state’s residents. In light of this, the public’s understanding and cooperation are sought to ensure the effective implementation of this initiative.
