As the ultimatum issued by ECOWAS to the Nigerien military junta expired, concerns have arisen over the decision’s aftermath.

AYCF President Yerima Shettima, speaking in a recent interview with Channels Television, cautioned that Nigeria, especially the northern part, would face significant consequences if ECOWAS pursues military intervention to unseat the Nigerien military junta….CONTINUE READING

 

Shettima urged ECOWAS, led by President Bola Tinubu, and the African Union to avoid military force in addressing the political situation. He called for a diplomatic and dialogical approach to resolve the impasse in Niger Republic.

Furthermore, the AYCF has appealed to the coup leaders to initiate a transitional arrangement aimed at restoring democratic governance within a year, emphasizing that military rule is no longer favored in Africa.

In a separate context, Senator Nkechi Nwaogu, a prominent figure within the All Progressives Congress (APC), commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government, stating that it is heading in the right direction.

Nwaogu’s affirmation was prompted by the inclusion of Nkiruka Onyejiocha, Dr. Betta Edu, Hannatu Musawa, Doris Uzoka, Stella Okotette, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, Lola Adejo, and Mrs. Imam Suleiman Ibrahim on the President’s ministerial nominee list sent to the Senate.

She highlighted that Tinubu’s ministerial list reflects a commitment to the 35 percent affirmative action for women. Nwaogu also commended President Tinubu’s adherence to the principles of Federal Character in his appointments.

Expressing optimism about the transformative potential of President Tinubu’s economic policies, Nwaogu encouraged Nigerians to remain patient while awaiting the positive impact. She expressed confidence that the appointed individuals possess the qualifications, experience, and achievements necessary to facilitate the country’s advancement under President Tinubu’s leadership.
