Last week, the NLC and TUC jointly led a nationwide protest expressing their discontent with the removal of fuel subsidies and the perceived negative impacts of what they termed as unfavorable policies of the new administration.

Ajaero mentioned during the interview that certain developments had transpired between last week and the present time. He stated, “The Senate committed to revert within one week and address the issue. Just this evening, we received a notification from them, inviting us for a meeting tomorrow.”

Addressing other matters, Ajaero said, “We are still awaiting details regarding the restructuring initiative team, particularly from the government’s side, including the designation of team leaders. This aspect is still pending.”

“However, following our National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, we made the decision to respond more firmly to the stance of the industrial court and the Ministry of Justice.

They sent us letters implying contempt, and the NEC of the NLC decided to give them until the 14th of August to retract the contempt summons, failing which we will initiate a significant industrial action,” Ajaero concluded.
