Edo North Senatorial District Leaders Disassociate From Deputy Governor’s Ambition, Urge Against Crisis

They emphasized the need to avoid conflict and crisis that could hinder the progress of Edo State.
The Edo North leaders, also key figures within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the senatorial district, praised Governor Godwin Obaseki for his remarkable achievements across various sectors of the state.
They encouraged Deputy Governor Shaibu to emulate Obaseki’s commitment to delivering tangible improvements to the people of Edo State.
Alhaji Kabiru Ajoto, former Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly and a leader of the group, applauded Governor Obaseki’s inclusive policies, including the employment of more than 579 individuals from the Afemai region into the Edo State Civil Service.
Ajoto commended Obaseki’s approach towards Shaibu’s role and responsibilities, describing it as an opportunity for the deputy governor to excel.
Addressing the media at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat in Edo State, Adjoto remarked that the ongoing rift between Governor Obaseki and Deputy Governor Shaibu is unfortunate.
He conveyed the sentiment of the majority from Edo North that supports Governor Obaseki’s leadership and initiatives.
Adjoto further noted that attempts to settle the dispute through peaceful dialogue were rejected by Shaibu.
He criticized Shaibu’s decision to take legal action against the governor, stating that such actions were detrimental to the unity and progress of Edo State.
Adjoto highlighted the accomplishments of the Obaseki-led administration, particularly in Edo North, including significant infrastructure projects and revitalization efforts.
He recognized the positive impact of Governor Obaseki’s collaboration with Deputy Governor Shaibu, attributing the latter’s prominence to the governor’s support and empowerment.
