Sporting a palpable air of defiance, Fayose’s message was clear and unfiltered: “If not for the National Assembly, we for don hit una this weekend.” A warning, direct and undisguised, to the military junta that recently seized control in Niger.

The sequence of events in Niger remains alarming. It’s been a tumultuous period since the military coup ousted the elected president, Bazoum despite significant international pressures, most notably from Nigerian President Tinubu, for a return to democratic governance. Recall that President Tinubu had even issued an ultimatum for the reinstatement of the deposed president, an ultimatum which unfortunately has since passed.

Fayose’s video wasn’t just a warning; it also carried a message of assurance and confidence in President Tinubu’s strategic capabilities. He declared with conviction that President Tinubu would utilize his renowned political wisdom to navigate this quagmire and ensure that democracy is restored in Niger. “Tinubu will use wisdom to finish them,” Fayose asserted, hinting at the Nigerian president’s knack for diplomacy and behind-the-scenes maneuvers.
