Last week, El-Rufai reportedly met with President Tinubu and conveyed his decision to withdraw his interest in the ministerial position. He further recommended his former commissioner, Jafaru Sani, as his potential successor.

Governor Sani, however, has firmly dismissed the viral social media assertion that he rejected Jafaru Sani’s nomination due to his loyalty to El-Rufai. He characterizes this story as baseless, malicious, and misleading.

In an interview with Channels Television, he clarified that his interaction with President Tinubu revolved around concerns related to his predecessor’s ministerial nomination.

He emphasized that he neither opposed nor declined the recommendation made by El-Rufai.

Governor Sani underscored that the intention behind this false narrative was to create a sense of discord between him and El-Rufai. He emphasized that his primary focus is upholding the image of his predecessor, surpassing any other considerations.

Regarding the actual events, Sani clarified, “The truth in the story is that I met with the president. Everything else is untrue and a fabrication designed to create tension between me and Mallam (El-Rufai).

” He further added, “I engaged with the president out of concern about recent developments. I firmly believe that both individuals have the nation’s best interests at heart.”

He went on to state, “The issue of replacement was never discussed during our conversation. It is of least concern to me. If indeed Mallam [El-Rufai] wishes to propose a substitute, I would never oppose his choice.

Our alignment in thought is evident. Those who are familiar with us are well aware that these claims are entirely false. We recognize the source of this misinformation, but we remain unperturbed.”
