However, Senator Nwebonyi emphasized that solely relying on regional support would not be sufficient to secure the presidency for the South-East. He stressed the need for the South-East to garner support from other geopolitical zones to achieve its presidential aspirations.

Senator Nwebonyi urged the South-East to engage in political activities that promote the region’s interests on a national scale. He noted that the South-East has made significant contributions to Nigeria’s political landscape and should not be excluded from important decision-making processes.

Highlighting an example, he mentioned that during the selection of ministerial candidates, some geopolitical zones received more slots than others, with the South-East receiving a comparatively smaller allocation. The region’s advocacy for more ministerial slots was met with a reminder of its support for the Labour Party in the previous election.

Senator Nwebonyi extended his appreciation to his constituents in Izzi, Abakaliki, Ebonyi, and Ohaukwu Local Government Areas for their support during the 2023 general elections, where they voted for him and other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates.

He also commended his constituents for their endorsement of Governor Francis Nwifuru and encouraged ongoing support for the APC-led administration at both the state and national levels.

Expressing concern about unemployment in the country, Senator Nwebonyi pledged to implement programs that would enhance youth employment and empowerment within his constituency.
