Subair highlighted that the menace of counterfeit products is persistent, and Pfizer aims to collaborate with various stakeholders to educate consumers about the risks of counterfeit medicines. He stressed the importance of empowering patients with knowledge to safeguard their health from counterfeiters.

He explained, “Counterfeit medicines often lack essential ingredients and accurate dosages, or may contain harmful substances.

Consequently, patients who unknowingly consume counterfeit drugs, including vital medications for conditions like cancer and heart disease, miss out on the intended therapeutic effects.

To confront the menace of counterfeit medicines and protect patient health, Pfizer is teaming up with industry partners to ensure patients receive the necessary information to identify and avoid counterfeit drugs.”

Subair affirmed Pfizer’s intention to join hands with government agencies, pharmaceutical organizations, medical practitioners, pharmacists, and other industry partners to heighten awareness about the escalating counterfeit medicines issue.

He emphasized their collective goal of intercepting counterfeit drugs before they reach patients, providing consumers with informed choices, and extending support to healthcare providers within communities.

The President of the PSN, Cyril Usifoh, expressed the association’s commitment to upholding high standards of professional ethics and discipline among its members.

He pledged full support for collaborative efforts with Pfizer, affirming that they will endeavor to engage with stakeholders and effectively drive the campaign against counterfeit medicines.
