Governor Abba Kabiru Yusuf, in consultation with the heads of tertiary institutions, approved the measure to ease the financial burden on students in the face of rising economic challenges.

The state government acknowledged that the current economic adversity, marked by fuel subsidy removal and soaring inflation of essential commodities, has made life considerably difficult for the populace.

In this context, the reduction in registration fees is anticipated to extend relief to both enthusiastic students and concerned parents.

Under the terms of this initiative, Kano State’s indigenous students pursuing regular courses at institutions such as Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil; Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano; Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education, Kumbotso; and others, will enjoy a substantial 50 percent reduction in registration fees for the upcoming 2023/2024 academic session.

This decision resonates with the government’s overarching commitment to education, emphasizing quality and sustainable educational development across the state.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s pro-poor educational policies align with these principles, including restoring the foreign scholarship program, providing unconditional payment of registration fees for Kano indigenes at Bayero University, Kano, and reinvigorating institutes of entrepreneurship and vocational studies.
