In a meeting with the medical suppliers, Dr. Abubakar Labaran, who now heads the DMCSA, expressed his dismay at inheriting a financially challenged agency, compounded by the poor state of the healthcare system left behind by the previous administration.

Dr. Yusuf clarified that the purpose of the meeting was to devise strategies for addressing the challenge of significant outstanding payments to suppliers and to ensure a sustainable supply of commodities to benefit the population of Kano State. One of the major challenges faced is the substantial outstanding debt, amounting to approximately N1.2 billion.

To address these issues, Dr. Yusuf outlined several steps taken, including establishing a baseline for DMCSA operations, ensuring prompt payment for all procurements conducted after determining the agency’s actual fund value, among other measures.
