Anana, a former EFCC prosecutor, has also requested that the court order the federal government to provide N100 million in compensation for Bawa’s alleged unlawful and ongoing detention by the DSS.
The respondents in the fundamental rights enforcement suit include the director-general of DSS, the attorney-general of the federation, and the minister of justice.
Abdulrasheed Bawa has been in detention since June 14, 2023, following his arrest by DSS operatives in Abuja. The hearing date was set by Justice Aluko after Anana indicated the need to respond to a preliminary objection filed by the DSS DG, Yusuf Magaji Bichi.
