Adamawa Governor Pardons 42 Inmates and Grants Bail To 27 Others To Mark 100 Days In Office

 In celebration of his first hundred days in office, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has pardoned 42 inmates and provided bail for 27 others.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

These inmates, primarily awaiting trial detainees from the Yolde Pate Correctional Centre, were released on Monday.

Their release was based on the recommendation of the Advisory Council on the Prerogative of Mercy, with the aim of alleviating overcrowding in correctional facilities throughout the state….CONTINUE READING

 

Justice Hapsat Abdulrahaman, the State Chief Judge who led the Jail Delivery Committee, presided over the conviction of two out of the 203 inmates addressed by the committee.

Among those convicted and sentenced to five years in prison each were two individuals who had confessed to the alleged offenses for which they had been remanded.

Currently, the Yolde Pate New Medium Security Custodial Center houses 865 inmates, with the majority of those pardoned having been detained for offenses such as breach of trust, criminal conspiracy, and culpable homicide.
