Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has been appointed as the campaign council’s chairman, according to the list released on Saturday.

Notably, the name of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which was previously included in the list, has been removed.

Sulaiman Argungu, the party’s National Organising Secretary, made this announcement in a statement issued on Saturday.

Yahaya will be supported by co-chairmen including Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume.

The party’s candidate, Timipre Sylva, is set to compete against the incumbent governor, Douye Diri, and 18 other candidates in the election.

It is worth recalling that the initial list, which contained the names of campaign council chairmen, co-chairmen, and members, had included Nyesom Wike’s name.

This inclusion had raised eyebrows, particularly since Wike had already been named a member of the PDP campaign council for the same Bayelsa governorship election a week prior.
