Bassey criticized the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for appointing Nigerian musician Naira Marley as an ambassador, especially in light of the controversy surrounding the death of another musician, Mohbad, in which Naira Marley is implicated.
Bassey argued that ambassadors should embody a positive image and drive for the brands they represent. He expressed concern that Naira Marley, known for his controversial behavior and association with a group known as “Marlians,” which is often associated with deviant behavior and criminal activities, does not align with the values that a role model should uphold for the youth.
