Additionally, the Senate will also screen four nominees for the role of CBN Deputy Governors, who will join Dr. Cardoso as key members of the bank’s Management Team responsible for guiding its operations over the next five years.

This announcement was made through a statement issued by the Media Office of the Senate Leader, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, on Monday evening. The Senate is set to commence these screening procedures as it resumes plenary following its annual recess.

Senator Bamidele stated, “The Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria will resume plenary on Tuesday, September 26. We will conduct the screening of Dr.

Cardoso in a Committee of the Whole. Dr. Cardoso will undergo screening alongside four deputy governors: Mrs. Emem Nnana Usoro, Mr. Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo, Mr. Philip Ikeazor, and Dr. Bala M. Bello.”

Furthermore, the Senate has scheduled the screening of ministerial nominees Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim and Mr. Ayodele Olawande, designated as Minister of Youth and Minister of State for Youth, respectively, for October 3.

It is worth noting that President Tinubu had previously approved Dr. Cardoso’s nomination for the role of CBN Governor, along with the nominations of four deputy governors for a term of five years each, pending their confirmation by the Senate, as of September 15.
