This empowerment initiative, carried out through the collaboration of Kogi Enterprise Development Agency (KEDA) and the World Bank, was implemented in two phases.

The first batch, consisting of over 100 MSMEs, benefited from the program yesterday, while the second batch, comprising more than 200 MSMEs, was reached earlier.

Hajiya Rekiya Onaiovo, the Managing Director of KEDA, disclosed that the selection of beneficiaries was conducted following a rigorous screening process out of the 60,000 registrations received by the agency. This selection process was aimed at meeting the stringent evaluation criteria set by the project partners.

The business enhancement tools provided to the MSMEs include laptops, desktops, tablets, internet devices, POS machines, projectors, printers, android phones, and other ICT devices designed to enhance their business operations.

Hajiya Rekiya Onaiovo further explained that the distribution of these equipment aligns with the Kogi Cares Result Area 3 initiative, particularly focusing on the Delivery Linkage Indicator (DLI) 3.3. Initially, this program was initiated by the Kogi government in response to the economic challenges posed by the Covid-19 lockdown, which adversely affected Micro and Small Enterprises.
