He made this statement while delivering a keynote address at a Sustainable Economic Development Cluster (SEDEC) program for key stakeholders in Minna on Tuesday. The event was organized by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).
Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba represented Governor Bago during the event, where he expressed deep concern about the staggering statistics of inequality across various indices within the state.
“Over half of our population lives below the poverty line. We are grappling with several challenges, including persistent insecurity, limited access to quality and affordable education, economic challenges, inadequate healthcare services, lack of proper road infrastructure, and high unemployment rates,” he stated.
Governor Bago also highlighted that corruption plays a significant role in perpetuating the issues of ongoing insecurity, poverty, economic struggles, and unemployment in the state.
He emphasized that while these challenges are multifaceted, corruption remains a critical factor contributing to these problems.
