Isaiah Ijele, the Director-General of New Media for the SDP Campaign Council, conveyed this plea during a press conference held in Lokoja on Wednesday.

Ijele expressed grave concern over the rising incidents of violence and casualties inflicted on innocent citizens throughout the state, allegedly at the hands of politically-backed thugs.

He claimed that supporters of Alhaji Muritala Ajaka, the SDP’s gubernatorial candidate, have been consistently targeted in attacks purportedly sponsored by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

However, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, the spokesperson for the APC Campaign Council, vehemently denied allegations of orchestrating attacks against SDP supporters in the state.

Ijele recounted the recent events, stating, “Gunshots rang out throughout the night on Tuesday in Anyigba and Ankpa towns, where the homes and belongings of innocent SDP supporters were vandalized and destroyed. Our campaign coordinator in Anyigba and his family were victims as they were driven out of their home, and their property, including a motorcycle, was destroyed.”

In response to these allegations, Fanwo, the APC spokesperson, refuted the SDP’s claims, asserting, “We are a government, and our foremost duty is to protect all the residents of Kogi State, regardless of their political affiliations.
