In a personally signed condolence message, the Senate President expressed his deep sorrow over the two separate and painful events.
He emphasized the profound impact of these losses, as both women were integral pillars of support throughout Mr. Umoru’s journalism career.
The message conveyed, “I have been informed about the tragic occurrences that recently befell your family, with the passing of your beloved wife, Mrs. Bridget Umoru, on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, and your mother, Mrs. Celestina Umoru, the preceding day, September 26, 2023.
“It is particularly distressing that these two heart-wrenching events, which I understand were unrelated, transpired during a period when you are still in the prime of your life, excelling in your profession with immense distinction.
“Notably, the two women, who played pivotal roles in shaping the Henry Umoru we know, departed this world almost simultaneously.
“The qualities of your late wife, Bridget, were evident in the unwavering support she provided throughout your journalistic journey, which ultimately led to your current position as Assistant Political Editor at Vanguard.
“Furthermore, she offered constant encouragement, serving as the catalyst for your national recognition through your political reporting.
“Your mother was equally supportive, offering her prayers and guidance. Undoubtedly, you will forever cherish the maternal wisdom she generously shared with you and your beloved daughter, Emmanuella.”
