The former governor of Ebonyi State and Chairman of the South-East Governors’ Forum conveyed these sentiments while inspecting the collapsed bridge on the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, as stated in a press release by his media officer on Monday.
Umahi praised the decision to halt the sit-at-home order in Enugu as a significant step forward for the region and the country as a whole.
He also congratulated Governor Mbah on his victory at the Enugu State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, advising opposition parties in the state to desist from futile attempts to challenge the people’s mandate.
Regardless of party affiliations, Umahi emphasized that the selection of leadership is about the quality of the individual chosen by the people of Enugu.
He commended Governor Mbah for initiating the reconstruction and dualization of the Enugu-Abakaliki federal road up to the Ebonyi boundary, citing it as an example of people-driven leadership in governance, particularly by someone from the private sector.
Umahi pledged his strong support to both Governor Mbah and President Mbah, emphasizing the need for positive change and a reset in the country’s trajectory.
He encouraged anyone attempting to obstruct Governor Mbah’s work to recognize the divine nature of his mandate and the overwhelming support he enjoys from the people.
The minister also commended Governor Mbah’s background as a successful private individual, believing that his achievements in the private sector would positively influence his governance of Enugu State.
He reiterated the pride that the entire South-East and East Central State have in Enugu’s role as a significant regional hub.
