Olupelumi Fagboyegun, an African Traditionalist Priest and founder of the Isese Life Ministry in the United Kingdom, stressed the importance of preventing further violent protests in the state.

Speaking to the media in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, Fagboyegun cautioned that the current crisis in Ondo has resulted in various regions and towns in the state labeling each other, which is detrimental to peaceful coexistence.

He stated, “In 1963, political conflicts led to an uprising that my own father, Late Rev Canon Fagboyegun, ardently attempted to mediate but was unsuccessful.

It led to a complete breakdown resulting in loss of life within Owo and Usho town. It later escalated into what is known as ‘Operation Wet eh’ in the Southwest and eventually contributed to the downfall of the democratic government of Late Tafawa Balewa on 16th January 1966.”

Fagboyegun also pointed out that a similar situation occurred in 1983, leading to the destruction of wealth and the loss of many lives in the state.

He warned that a comparable situation in Ondo state today could destabilize a democratic republic, as it might provide an opportunity for military intervention.

The traditional priest urged an immediate halt to the ongoing impeachment proceedings against Lucky Aiyedatiwa, as he was jointly elected alongside Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
