During the meeting, Hon Pius Odubu, who had previously served as Oshiomhole’s deputy during his governorship, was designated as the party’s leader in Edo South senatorial district.

A source within the meeting informed Leadership, “All the party members who had been suspended, ranging from the unit level to the ward, local government, and state levels, were all invited to return to the party.”

“The primary purpose of the gathering was to foster unity within the party, particularly in Edo South, as there was a lack of a clear leader or rallying point. Therefore, during the meeting, Odubu was officially installed as the leader of the APC in Edo South, providing the party with a central figure who can convene meetings when necessary.”

“The discussion also addressed issues in Edo Central, where a party leader had faced criticism for his actions in the previous election due to anger. He had worked against the party, but ultimately, he too was forgiven. Comrade Oshiomhole, the party’s leader, directed that all suspensions should be lifted.”

“The meeting was exclusively attended by invited old party leaders, who were tasked with conveying the message to their respective constituencies. Oshiomhole effectively resolved the leadership disputes within the party. Although a couple of leaders may not have been entirely pleased with Odubu’s emergence, the majority view prevailed, and the party is now poised to approach the upcoming elections as a unified family.”
