Additionally, the council dismissed rumors of internal discord within the party as baseless and maintained that all party members are firmly supporting Timipre Sylva, the APC candidate.

Yekini Nabena, the secretary of the media and publicity committee of the campaign council and former APC deputy national publicity secretary, issued a statement in Abuja on Monday, criticizing what he referred to as “sponsored media reports” that insinuated that the Minister of State for Petroleum, Heineken Lokpobiri, and the 2019 governorship candidate, David Lyon, were collaborating with Governor Diri.

Nabena described these reports as a form of propaganda sponsored by the PDP to sow discord within the victorious APC team. Over the weekend, there were reports of an alleged partnership between Governor Diri, who is seeking re-election under the PDP banner, Minister of State for Petroleum (Oil) Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, and the 2019 governorship candidate, David Lyon. These reports suggested that Diri had offered Lokpobiri and Lyon a substantial number of Senior Special Assistant (SSA) positions and a degree of influence in decision-making.

However, Nabena, in his statement, attached recent photographs showing Lokpobiri and Lyon reaffirming their commitment to Timipre Sylva and the APC before the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. These images were presented to refute the reports and demonstrate their continued support for the APC.
