The total financial liabilities of the federal government for the year 2019 amounted to N26.2 trillion.
This astonishing revelation emerged during the review of the 2019 national financial statement presented to the Senate Public Accounts Committee (SPAC), which is chaired by Senator Ahmed Wadada. The report had been submitted by the Auditor General of the Federation.
The query highlighted, “The Accountant-General of the Federation was the sole federal government official who signed the consolidated statement of financial position without indicating his FRC of Nigeria registration number, a component that signifies approval from the CFS, contrary to the existing regulations.”
