Father Gundu served as the Catholic Priest of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jootar, Ukum Local Government Area of the state.

On October 12, 2023, Father Gundu tragically collapsed and was rushed to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Zaki-Biam, where medical professionals pronounced him deceased.

In a heartfelt message of sympathy, Governor Alia, through his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, acknowledged Father Gundu’s significant contributions to the spiritual growth and overall development of the church and the broader community throughout his many years of dedicated service.

He extended his condolences, particularly to the Catholic community at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jootar, where the late priest had formed strong bonds with his parishioners.

The governor offered his prayers for the eternal rest of the departed, and he sought strength from God for the grieving family and the entire church as they cope with this profound loss.”
