The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Toareed Lagbaja, has issued a stern warning to the troops of the 6 Division against violating the established codes of conduct while carrying out their operations. General Lagbaja also charged the troops with the task of pursuing economic saboteurs and ensuring their complete elimination.

Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, stated in a release that Lagbaja conveyed this charge during his first official visit to the 6 Division Area of Responsibility, held in Port Harcourt on Friday.

Lagbaja emphasized that the primary focus of the federal government is economic recovery, security, and infrastructural development.

He pointed out that meaningful economic recovery is unattainable without firm control over the oil industry, making it essential for troops to play a critical role in safeguarding the nation’s oil sector. He also urged the troops to remain loyal, disciplined, and dedicated to their constitutional duties.

He stressed, ‘Your first loyalty is to the Constitution and Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.’

Lagbaja expressed his desire to receive positive reports about the conduct of the 6 Division troops throughout the duration of Exercise Still Waters III.

The statement also noted that during his visit, General Lagbaja inaugurated significant projects and essential operational platforms to enhance amphibious operations in the Niger Delta region.”
