During this process, the Acting Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, emphasized that the examinations would be conducted with transparency and fairness.
“We have provided them with motivational talks to instill confidence in the system and help them understand the extensive efforts made to ensure the integrity of this process. We want them to recognize that promotions are now based on merit and not on personal connections,” Adeniyi stated.
He further mentioned, “The feedback I’ve received about the level of preparation affirms the fact that we are aligning ourselves with this new reality; promotions are now determined by an individual’s knowledge, capability, and their ability to demonstrate their job expertise. That’s what we expect to see from each of these officers taking the exams.”
