This community has unfortunately become a hotspot for various crimes, particularly those related to drugs and cults, leading to multiple incidents of violence, including the brutal murder of a former President General.
On Wednesday, the Central Executive Council of the community’s leadership, known as the Obosi Development Union (ODU), launched a one-day awareness campaign to demonstrate their commitment to safeguarding their land. A significant number of residents participated in a community-wide march.
Community leaders issued a stern warning to individuals involved in criminal activities, urging them to change their behavior or leave the town for their own safety.
Barrister Chimezie Obi, the President General, addressed the community members, explaining that the campaign was prompted by the numerous crimes and other wrongdoing that have tarnished the reputation of the town and its inhabitants.
Chimezie stated, “Although many of the wrongdoers claim to be from Obosi but are actually outsiders, we are issuing a final warning to those responsible to pack their belongings and depart from the community.”
He emphasized the community’s readiness to take action and their desire for support in the form of vehicles, security equipment, and devices. They also called for an increased police presence, additional personnel, and the recruitment of more vigilante operatives to enhance security measures.
