In a statement issued on Saturday, Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun expressed strong condemnation for the recent bank robbery in Otukpo, Benue State, which resulted in the tragic loss of lives among both police officers and innocent civilians.

Egbetokun emphasized that this act of violence was a direct affront to the core principles of peace, security, and justice that the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies are tirelessly committed to upholding.

To address this grave issue, he has directed the immediate deployment of additional operational and investigative resources to Otukpo, the Benue State Police Command, and the surrounding states, aimed at expediting the apprehension of the criminals responsible for this atrocity.

The Inspector-General acknowledged that two suspects were neutralized by security operatives while attempting to flee the scene, underscoring that the Nigeria Police Force has launched a comprehensive and coordinated effort to ensure that the perpetrators of this heinous crime face justice.
