Following the declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that Senator Orji Uzor Kalu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) won the election, Nnamdi Iroh Orji, the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has contested the result.

Orji submitted an appeal after the National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal dismissed his petition challenging Kalu’s victory.

Previously, Senator Abbo had made remarks, which he later recanted, suggesting that his removal was due to political maneuvering. He also alleged that five senators, including Kalu, were targeted for removal due to their failure to support Godswill Akpabio’s bid for the Senate presidency.

However, in a statement addressing the ongoing legal dispute over the Abia North senatorial seat, the All Old Bende Youth Movement Nationwide warned Senator Abbo to refrain from making insinuations related to the matter.
