Furthermore, the House has called upon the Nigerian Police, Department of State Services (DSS), and other law enforcement agencies to take immediate and vigorous action to apprehend and prosecute those responsible for this atrocious act.

In addition, the House has urged the government to promptly enhance the security infrastructure in Otukpo town and its surrounding areas to prevent any future incidents.

These resolutions were the result of a unanimous adoption of a motion of urgent public importance, presented by Hon. Blessing Onuh, who represents the Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency of Benue State.

During her presentation, Onuh shared that on Friday, October 20, 2023, around 3 pm, Otukpo, which had been relatively peaceful, was subjected to an invasion by more than 20 heavily armed gunmen who held the community hostage for over two hours.
