Osaro, who also holds the position of State Chairman for the Social Democratic Party (SDP), disclosed that the IPAC leadership in Rivers State, under Akawor’s direction, was dissolved on March 10, 2023.

due to their endorsement of a specific gubernatorial candidate for the state’s March 18, 2023 gubernatorial election.

The IPAC Chairman emphasized that Akawor’s actions and those of his team ran afoul of the IPAC code of conduct.

Osaro’s comments came following Akawor’s recent visit to the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) in his supposed role as the state IPAC Chairman.

“The IPAC executives led by Akawor were disbanded on the 10th of March 2023, and the new executives were constituted on the 20th of July 2023.

“At present, I hold the position of State Chairman for the Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC Rivers State Council.

“Prior to the general elections, the IPAC executives, led by Ambassador Desmond Akawor, breached the IPAC code of conduct by convening several state chairmen and collectively endorsing a single gubernatorial candidate.

“This action contradicts IPAC regulations because there are multiple candidates vying in the election.

“Any action that undermines the code of conduct governing IPAC will be met with appropriate responses.”
