from the list of candidates for the November 11 election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The governor sees this as an answer to his prayers, following Sylva’s disqualification by a Federal High Court in Abuja.
Governor Diri, who is seeking re-election on the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) platform, made these remarks while concluding his campaign activities in the Sagbama local government area, specifically in the Ofoni community.
He recollected that Timipre Sylva had announced in a live radio program on a Yenagoa-based radio station in November the previous year that he would not be contesting the governorship of the state and that the chapter on this matter was closed.
Governor Diri’s response suggests that he views Sylva’s disqualification as a favorable turn of events in the upcoming gubernatorial election, as it eliminates a prominent opposition candidate from the race.
