JUST IN Tinubu Government Takes Action: Requests UK Extradition of Diezani in $2.5 Billion Fraud Case
The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), has presented the extradition request to the Crown Prosecution Services of the United Kingdom…CONTINUE READING

The initiative came as a direct response to a formal written plea by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to the AGF’s office in October. President Bola Tinubu is understood to have directed the submission of this request.
According to a reliable source within the Federal Government, the AGF’s office invoked Section 2 (2) of Nigeria’s Extradition Act, CAP E25, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, and “The Scheme,” a multilateral treaty governing extradition between the United Kingdom and Nigeria.
The source explained, “The EFCC established a prima facie case against Allison-Madueke in a letter to the office of the AGF, after which a magistrate was ordered to issue a warrant of arrest.
The certified true copy of the warrant of arrest was then attached to the extradition request sent to the UK government by the AGF, acting on the President’s instructions.”
It was noted that the delay in Diezani Allison-Madueke’s extradition from the UK to Nigeria is due to an ongoing internal review of the request by UK authorities.
Another credible source confirmed that the AGF has submitted both the arrest warrant and the extradition request to the UK government.
However, the extradition process is inherently complex and contingent on the approval of the receiving country.
