Chief Alaba Lawson, a prominent business figure, educational advocate, and former president of the Abeokuta Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ABEOCCIMA), passed away early on Saturday at the age of 72.

Abiodun received the news of her demise with great shock but found solace in the fact that she had left a significant legacy across various facets of the Nigerian landscape, blessing countless Nigerians who had the privilege of knowing her.

The governor described Chief Alaba Lawson as an embodiment of excellence and a shining example of Nigerian womanhood, serving as a role model for generations of women.

In an official statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Lekan Adeniran, issued in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, Abiodun expressed, “The loss of Chief (Mrs.) Alaba Lawson is undoubtedly a distressing development, but we are comforted by her outstanding record of service to humanity and her unblemished contributions to the development of Ogun State.”

He acknowledged her noble heritage as a member of the distinguished Jibolu-Taiwo family of Abeokuta, emphasizing her remarkable journey from a background of nobility to achieving self-reinvention, exemplifying the timeless Omoluabi qualities cherished by the Yoruba people.
