Jigawa State Takes Action Against Child Malnutrition With N250 Million Allocation

State Nutrition Officer, Saidu Umar, revealed this in a statement to the press following the approval of the funds.
He clarified that UNICEF had already sanctioned a grant of N250 million for the acquisition of RUTF.
Umar stated, “UNICEF will oversee and supervise the RUTF procurement process and provide support in its administration and distribution at various Centers for the Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM).”
The RUTF will be allocated for the treatment of approximately 10,000 children afflicted with severe malnutrition in the state.
In addition to RUTF, the state is also backing various programs to boost maternal and child nutrition in order to address the high prevalence of child malnutrition and stunting.
