According to a statement jointly signed by Emmanuel Ugboaja (NLC) and Nuhu Toro (TUC), they asserted that Uzodinma collaborated with Imo State Police Commissioner, Muhammed Barde, in the “abduction” of Ajaero in Owerri.
The unions claimed that Uzodinma was employing “violence and intimidation” against trade unions in the state.
The statement highlighted the violent episode when law enforcement personnel attempted to disperse workers gathering at the state NLC secretariat.
Subsequently, a group of “thugs” in Hilux and Toyota trucks unleashed violence on the workers, damaging vehicles, inflicting injuries, and stealing belongings. The President of the NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero, arrived at the scene only to be met by a large number of Imo State Police officers.
