Additionally, during a separate incident on November 2, 2023, farmers harvesting crops in the western part of Sabon Sara village alerted the troops about an impending bandit attack.
Troops quickly mobilised to the area and, with the aid of four farmers, neutralised one bandit. The troops also recovered two AK-47 rifles and ensured medical attention for one of the farmers, Mallam Abdulrahman Aliyu, who sustained minor injuries during the skirmish.
The following day, acting on credible intelligence, troops conducted a clearance operation in areas within the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
They made contact with bandits, neutralising two criminals and seizing various items, including firearms and ammunition.
Major General VU Okoro, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army and Force Commander Operation WHIRL PUNCH, lauded the troops for their valor and the farmers for their courageous assistance.
He urged the soldiers to persist in eradicating all terrorist, bandit, and criminal elements in their area of responsibility.
