Governor Lawal Calls For Refugee Resettlement Expansion In Zamfara

During a visit aimed at appreciating the refugee commission’s role in disaster relief and exploring additional ways to assist those affected by banditry in the state, Governor Lawal called on the commission to give priority to Zamfara due to the ongoing insecurity and the critical need for humanitarian assistance.

He also requested the extension of the refugee resettlement cities constructed in Gusau to other zones of the state.

Due to limited resources, the governor emphasized the importance of partnerships and collaborations to alleviate the suffering of over 2000 refugees in Zamfara.

In response, the commissioner of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons, Tijjani Aliyu Ahmed, assured the governor of the commission’s commitment to providing ongoing support to those affected by insecurity in Zamfara and other states.

The federal commissioner commended Governor Lawal for being the first executive governor to visit the commission since he assumed office.
