The group urged the ministry to aggressively combat corruption by holding non-compliant contractors accountable for their actions.
At a recent gathering, the organization’s chairman, Comrade Mathias Udo, called on the Accountant-General of the Federation, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein, to disregard baseless calls for the redeployment of the Director of Finance and Accounts, Mr. Olakunle Ogunsemowo Oladipupo, aimed at manipulating the ministry.
Recalling previous incidents, Udo pointed out that numerous substandard projects were completed by contractors, bypassing necessary protocols for payment in the previous administration.
The organization lauded Umahi’s new policy of incorporating concrete in road construction, anticipating increased durability, longevity, and better road maintenance through strict adherence to the ministry of works’ established standards.
Udo emphasized the obligation of public officials to adhere strictly to public service regulations and resist any form of intimidation or threats that might hinder the effective discharge of their duties, maintaining a commitment to impartiality and fairness.
