Political Figures Atiku And Obi React To Canadian High Commission Fire Tragedy

Tragically, two individuals lost their lives in this incident, and one more person sustained severe injuries.

Additionally, on the same night, a Samsung electronic showroom in Abuja was engulfed in flames, resulting in the significant loss of electrical appliances worth millions of naira.

In a statement posted on his official social media account on Tuesday, Obi conveyed his deep condolences for the two lives lost in the Canadian High Commission incident and expressed sympathy for the extensive property damage in the Samsung showroom fire.

The former Governor of Anambra State called upon the federal government and relevant authorities to conduct thorough investigations into the causes of these fire incidents.

He stated: “The reports of the two fire incidents that occurred in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, yesterday, are deeply troubling. First, there was a fire incident at the Canadian High Commission in Abuja, where it’s reported that approximately 2 people lost their lives.

Next, the Samsung office at Banex Junction in Wuse 2, Abuja, caught fire, resulting in the destruction of goods worth millions of naira.”

“While I urge the government and the relevant agencies to conduct investigations into the causes of these fire incidents, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Canadian High Commission @CanHCNigeria for this tragic event.

I also empathize with the business owners at the Samsung Office in Abuja who have suffered significant financial losses due to the inferno.”

“These are indeed challenging times, but I encourage them not to lose hope. May the deceased rest in eternal peace, the injured recover swiftly, and those affected find solace.”

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar also conveyed his condolences to the Canadian Government in response to the fire incident at their High Commission in Nigeria.

The Waziri of Adamawa expressed his sadness over the loss of lives and injuries resulting from the fire outbreak.

In a message shared on his official social media handle on Monday, he wrote: “I extend my condolences to the Government of Canada regarding the fire incident at its High Commission in Nigeria today and the unfortunate loss of lives and injuries sustained.”
